Today, I want to share an indispensable book with you which addresses the future of mankind…Baby Maker (Post Hill Press, 2018, div. of Simon & Schuster, NY), by Barbara Rodgers. Baby Maker provides essential information and insights for those planning a pregnancy in the next few months, or who are having difficulties conceiving. Rodgers reveals a safe, simple and strategic protocol for young women preparing for conception, and at just the right time, as we’re seeing an alarming increase in infertility and autistic spectrum disorder in today’s day and age.
Infertility in Men and Women Is On the Rise
Through my research and practice as an integrative cardiologist, I have become acutely aware that infertility is on the rise for men and women. It’s a pervasive, damaging and dramatically increasing problem in the U.S. and Canada. In fact, as many as 7 million women in the U.S. between 15 and 44 are affected by infertility[i].
Further complicating the issue of infertility is the unsettling evidence that strongly suggests autistic spectrum disorder is linked to a maternal imbalance in dietary patterns during pregnancy.[ii]
Clearly the health of both men and women prior to and during pregnancy is critical not only to the health of the child after birth, but also in the ability to conceive at all.
I place a great deal of importance on these topics, which is why I think you will find Baby Maker is a book each of you needs to have. It was published late in 2018 by Barbara Rodgers, who is Board Certified in Holistic Nutrition by the National Association of Nutrition Professionals (NANP). Barbara knows first- hand about the critical role nutrition plays in our health, after a long battle with multiple sclerosis, which she eventually conquered.
Dr. Ann Louise Gittleman, who wrote the forward for this book and is a New York Times, multi-award-winning author and researcher, and woman’s health advocate — made the profound statement that this book is the most integrative guide to “baby-making” she has reviewed in the past 30 years.
Like Dr. Gittleman, I found it to be an indispensable, comprehensive and urgently needed book that deals with the issues of infertility head-on, with a safe, simple and strategic protocol for men and women who are preparing for conception.
Clean Living and Conception Go Hand-In-Hand
There is a growing awareness among people that we are living in a toxic world, especially with hormone disruptors that are part of our environment and the food we eat. The fact is, a healthy body is also a clean body. Without good health, conception often does not occur; and if it does, issues during pregnancy and/or childbirth are far more prevalent.
It is critical that individuals thinking about having a child prepare their bodies in advance, which is exactly what “Baby Maker” covers, with an easy to follow, step-by-step plan for men and women.
So many of our health crisis in this country can be avoided – including unexplained infertility – if we look at high-quality nutrition as a fundamental component to good health. Through Baby Maker, Rodgers offers tremendous hope and easily workable nutritional solutions for couples in the 21st century. This book is a must-read, as infertility and autistic spectrum disorder impact us all.
