Earthing / Grounding Q & A

Q: How do you “Earth” or “Ground”?

A: Earthing, or grounding, is as simple as walking barefoot outside in the grass, on the sand, or even on unpainted concrete. If you are not able to ground outside, you can get grounded in your home or office using Earthing products: mats, sheets, bands and other assorted products that connect to a ground source indoors (usually a basic grounded outlet in the home or a simple ground rod system) – Learn more.

Q: How often and for how long should I practice Earthing?

A: With Earthing, the more you do it, the better. At a bare minimum, try to get outside and ground for at least 30 to 40 minutes per day; even better for an hour or two. Using grounding products indoors while you work, relax, or sleep is also a great way to get your grounding time in.

Q: Do I need to be barefoot to Earth?

A: Yes. In order for the Earth’s energy to pass into your body, you have to be barefoot when walking outside unless you are wearing just socks or 100 percent leather-soled shoes (i.e. without any rubber). Same applies when you use Earthing products: direct skin contact is best, though the energy is still conducted through socks and most other clothing.
