Often when people think about detoxification, they envision long cleanses, fasts, and juicing regimens. While these kinds of detox are useful, I prefer to approach detox in a much gentler fashion, one that allows the body to work out toxins and cleanse at a slower, more natural pace.
How to Detox with Food
Healthy detox is easy when it’s a part of your daily lifestyle. One of the best ways to detox is to make your diet primarily plant-based, and full of fresh, organic fruits and vegetables.
Fruits and veggies are packed with:
- antioxidants
- vitamins
- minerals
- fiber
Together, these produce positives help to neutralize and bind toxins, and flush them out of the body.
I recommend eating both raw and cooked vegetables and organic produce whenever possible. If you can’t get organic items, be sure to avoid those that contain the highest levels of pesticides.
